The Alliance for Better Long Term Care promotes the quality of life and care of residents of nursing homes and other long-term care settings.
Founded in 1979, the Alliance for Better Long-Term Care is a nonprofit organization committed to advocating for the rights, dignity, and quality of life of Rhode Island’s older adults, caregivers, and all individuals receiving long-term care services. Operated by a professional staff and supported by a volunteer Board of Directors, the Alliance works to ensure that people receiving care, whether in a facility or at home , are empowered, respected, and protected.
The Alliance provides community education, direct support, and advocacy that helps individuals and families navigate the complexities of long-term care with confidence and compassion. One of the key programs we support is the Rhode Island State Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, which focuses on individual advocacy and resident rights. In addition, we host educational seminars, collaborate with stakeholders, and are actively expanding our programming to meet the evolving needs of Rhode Island’s long-term care community.
We believe long-term care should be person-centered, safe, and grounded in dignity. Our work is rooted in the conviction that everyone receiving care should be heard, supported, and able to live with purpose and autonomy – no matter where they are in their care journey.
