To provide or support programs that improve the quality of life and health care of residents of Rhode Island who receive long-term care services.

Guiding Principles

Our work is founded on the conviction that all people who receive long-term care services should:

  • Be provided with consistently safe, appropriate, compassionate, and person-centered care.
  • Have autonomy to direct their care and services.
  • Live in an environment of respect and dignity.
  • Be free from abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.
  • Enjoy a quality of life that meets their individual needs and preferences.

Our Programs

RI State Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (RISLTCOP)

Individuals receiving long term care services are among the most frail and vulnerable. At times, they need help to improve their quality of life and care. Ombudsmen work to resolve these problems and effect change at the local, state, and national levels to improve quality of care.

Building Bridges Intergenerational Program

About 50% of nursing home residents receive no visits from family or friends. They are alone and isolated while many children have no living grandparents. These youngsters are missing a precious experience which is where the Building Bridges program comes in.

The Building Bridges Program is currently on hold. We hope to be able to reinstate it in the upcoming year.
