About The Alliance
Founded in 1979, the Alliance for Better Long Term Care is a nonprofit organization that advocates for the rights, dignity, and quality of life of Rhode Island’s older adults, caregivers, and all individuals receiving long-term care services. Through education, direct support, community programs, and collaborative advocacy, we empower those we serve with the tools, information, and representation they need to thrive.
Our work spans a range of efforts that promote person-centered care, prevent abuse and neglect, and support families and professionals navigating complex care systems. At the heart of our mission is the belief that every person receiving long-term care deserves compassion, autonomy, respect, and safety — no matter where or how they receive care. Among the programs we manage in pursuit of that mission is the Rhode Island State Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, along with other initiatives focused on outreach, education, and systems improvement.
Disclaimer: All applicants must be free of any conflicts of interest: applicants may not be employed by, contracted with, or have any financial involvement with any long-term care providers, nor any direct involvement in the licensing, certification, or regulation of long-term care providers in Rhode Island.
